The F R E E L O A D
E R S F O R U M
BEFORE THE FEASTING-STORM
Saturday: Straightened up Base Camp.
Removed bodies, whiskey jugs and chaw terbaccer plugs. Went thru clothes
washing drill. After blue jeans, shorts and sox washed, each man, wearing
web-belt, knife and hat, stepped into suds pan, scrubbed and rinsed with
buckets of cold water. Castanet teeth.
Formed up Full Field Packs for overnight hike. White Belt Point-Man; Timber and Trapper
Scouts. Two exhaustion collapses: Cut Finger and Pebble. Set up Line camp at
Akropolis Hill. Yarning: Jim
Bridge
in the buffalo during blizzard and Charlie burning the hypo-needle doctor.
Coyotes in the distance. Thick dew: went surfboarding in our sleeping bags.
Sunday: Hiked Vallies of Truth and Goodness to
Rebuild rock flower cairns . Held military funeral for the unknown soldier
found in the road. Breakfast of adhesive scrapings in the pan and titanic
aced. Push back up to Base Camp ahead of
the firs wave of parental attackers.

Like the Airline Pilot sez over the P.A. System before landing,
“Ladies and gents, youse is about to begin da mostest dangerust part of yer
journey – duh trip from duh airport to yer hotel!” And so this was the most dangerous part of
our week: Surviving the presence of untrained guests in camp. All kinds of
tummy-aching goodies. Cigarette butts in the sterilized water. Rocks sailing
down from Hawk Cliff. Gay, delightful running downhill.
