OPEN DISCUSSION after self-cooked breakfast & camp chores: Religions. Comparisons. Spiritual Values. The sometimes intolerable crush of daily Reality. Benj Franklin’s: “To every controversial question there are 3 sides: your side, my side and the right side.”  Iron Jaw’s song of “Washington said, “Men will fight; Even die for what is right; We’re all brothers and we’re only Passin’ Thru.. ADVANCED MINIMUM SURVIVAL CAMP – FIRST DAY REPORT
Explored the sunrise slope of the mountain for the absolutely best view. Found it.  Beyond Lightning Burned Tree on Charlie’s Pebble Pile.  We can see into both the Valley of Beauty and the Valley of Goodness and beyond to the Continental Divide as far down as spike’s Peak.  Built a lean-to between trees with ponchos, made fireplace, stored dry food from rain and animals, discovered firewood cave, chopped logs. We hve an almost perfectly flat spot. Double-checked compass survey: 270° (magnetic) from Base Camp Medicine Lodge on a straight line of 310 normal paces.  Major landmark is a large spire now called Hawks Flyway Beacon Rocks (reason in tomorrow’s report).  Since we are operating a dry camp, we formed our lean-to so that rain water will collect and drain into a pot below.  So that we don’t have to crash through raw terraine at night on a luminous compass bearing from Base Camp sings and yarnings, we established a cut off trail 215 paces up the Walt Whitman. Built a giant rock pile Trail Friend. Once we hit this in the dark, then 105 paces on a 245°bearing hits our camp.  Breakfast of 3 eggs & Bacon each. We talked for a while the made a stockpile of big logs. Dozed off to sleep during a flash storm. Another storm at night.

Meditation Thoughts:  RESPONSIBLITITES OF A CHILD TO HIS PARENTS
A child has many responsibilities to his parents. He must try to make them happy by remaining loyal to the jobs which must be done around the house. He must keep his parents respectful of him by respecting the assignments given to him even if he does not understand or agree with the reason for each job. Of course, he must never un out on any task once it is started.  This may seem hard to do at times when he wants to play, but it is a weakness that a child must outgrow if he wants to develop a healthy attitude toward life. By doing this, the child helps build better family relations. A child’s parents have gone through a lot and have a very hard time raising him, so the child can help by not talking back or groaning. A parent is constantly taking care of a child so the child should willingly accept, as partial re-payment, anything that the parent want him to do..
